Collective Study
There is a lack of public amenities in the one-kilometer radius of the White Bay Power Station. Collective study is a public library that draws disparate groups to one space where both random and intentional interactions are made. It’s a collection of both knowledge and individuals.

The library features both static and digital signage. Digital screens display information, announcements, and recommendations. They are flexible, effective, and help individuals find information efficiently.

Eucalyptus Archeri
With sustainability in mind, the existing brick wall of the boiler house is retained and whitewashed. Similarly, the existing concrete floor is retained and polished. This bypasses the wasteful process of demolition and reconstruction. Cork mosaic tiles are used as flooring directly under seating zones. This material is eco-friendly since the cork is recyclable and is sourced as by-product from the wine cork industry. In addition, spotted gum, a readily available and highly regenerative timber, is used for the library shelving and bench seating joinery. Cork fabric and hemp fabric, both biodegradable and 100% natural, are used to upholster the bench seating joinery and ottomans. Lastly, the library tables are made from cork and recycled glass, an eco-friendly material since it turns glass waste into a stunning table top.

The library signage panel features both static and digital signage. This accommodates potential users that needs assisting when browsing the library for specific information or books.
The static signage is dimly back lit to ensure visibility from both long and short distance while ensuring it transfer vital information to passing users effectively.
Loose bench seating is movable to accommodate to different individual or group activities. They are flexible which give individuals the option to customise their space.
The side tables are also movable and allow individual to customize their space. They are designed in a form that interlocks with the bench seats which allows them to be placed in a position that takes up little space.
Round tables provide a more formal seating arrangement that is ideal for studying, reading, and collaborating. This accommodates to individuals that prefer formal seating over informal bench seating.
Eucalyptus Archeri, a dwarf breed of Eucalyptus, is planted within the table joinery. This brings the exterior environment indoors, produces a delicate fragrance, and aids with productivity and stress.
